Liar, Liar Pants on Fire!!!

Have you checked out this website? Its a website that claims to "bring you the truth in politics."  Wouldn't this tool be great to have for everyday conversations?

With all of this political stuff going on, it made me think about lies, the people who tell them, the different types and the whys.

I thought there were two types of liars. The people who tell white lies and the ones who tell big, giant, hairy ones.  Turns out there are a few different types of liars!!  I'm really interested in they why's more than anything.

  • Teller of White Lies - I have to say that I am a member of this group. If the cashier at the grocery store asks me how I'm doing, I say "fine." Even if I'm not. If a friend asks me if her pants make her look fat, I'm not going to say, "No, it's not your pants, it's your ass that's making you look fat." If my mom worked really hard on a home cooked meal from scratch, I'm not going to say, "it's ok."  The why is fairly obvious for this type of liar.  I don't want to hurt someone's feelings or bore the cashier to death about why I'm not having a good day.
  • Careless Lies - I didn't know this one existed. These people lie every chance they get.  They don't even care about hiding the lie or if it even makes sense!!  They are sloppy with the lies and everyone knows this person lies so they tend to not have many friends.  I worked with a girl that was exactly like this.  I don't know the why for this one, maybe just to impress people?  Any ideas?
  • Occasional Liars - It's just what it says, they occasionally lie and apparently, they feel bad about it and typically try to be truthful.  I guess the why would depend on the lie?
  • Compulsive Liars - These are people who continuously lie out of habit.  My research says that this type of lying usually manifests in childhood by being in an environment where lying was necessary.  This type of liar is not being cunning or manipulating, it's just a habit. It doesn't make it ok and these individuals have problems maintaining relationships.
  • Sociopathic Liars - I don't like this one.  The liar in this situation, continuously lies to get their way with no concern for other peoples feelings.  They tend to be charismatic and charming and have good social skills but they are self-centered and manipulative.  Sociopathic lying is connected to mental illnesses such as Narcissistic Personality Disorder.  The why of this one is of particular interest to me.  Some of the reasons for this type of lying is that this person is insecure, malicious and want to control people to get what they want.

Famous Lies
J.Lo had everyone convinced that she was born in 1970. That is, until she made the mistake of dating P.Diddy, who outed her real birthdate as 1969.

President Clinton will go down in history for saying, quite untruly, "I did not have sexual relations with that woman."

Lance Armstrong claimed to be a "natural athlete."

Beyoncé said "I write my own songs."

Tiger Woods said "I'm faithful."

Body Language of a Liar

Voice is higher pitched.

Untrue answers to questions are slightly delayed.

Body and face become stiffer.

Hand-to-face touching increased, especially nose rubbing and mouth covering.
Face and hands become a bit paler as blood is withheld from extremities. (A sign of high stress.)

Nostrils may open wider ('flare').

Breathing deeper and maybe audible.
Lips become thinner and tighter.

Shoulders pulled up, and elbows pulled into sides more. Body takes up less space.

Forehead tightens up a little in the area between the eyebrows.

Eye contact breaks away from you and eyes may squint or close.

Heart rate increases.

Hand palms turned down or closed, and not revealed to you.

Eyelash Envy Update

**UPDATE**

So, I took some after pics of my eyelashes yesterday.  I'm not going to post them because they look exactly the same as they did 11 days ago. I did skip 3 nights because I got lazy.  I'm going to keep at it because I really want to know if this works!

Something Old, Something New, Something Borrowed, Feeling Blue?

I've got the wedding planning blues!  It's hard to plan a Florida wedding from Alabama.  I kind of, sort of wanted to elope but believe it or not, my future hubby wants a wedding. Not only does this wonderful man actually want to marry me but he wants friends and family to witness it!!

According to my wedding app, LadyMarry, I'm already way behind on some pretty big tasks if we want to get married in early to mid 2017.

Budget - I was supposed to have this figured out 2 months ago.
Book Reception Venue - 1 month ago.
This month - Choose wedding party & try on dresses.

I want my family's input on this stuff but nobody wants to move to Alabama.

To take my mind off of this planning, I found some interesting wedding facts.

Throwing rice at weddings symbolizes fertility, seriously if anyone even brings rice with them, you will be asked to leave. I'm wishing for menopause, not a baby!

Nearly $72 billion is spent on weddings every year in the United States. OMG

In America, T.V. soap opera weddings attract more viewers than a presidential address.

Because eyebrows are considered intensely alluring in the Orient, historically the bride’s eyebrows were shaved entirely, rendering her powerless to attract a man.  Explains Whoopi Goldberg

In several countries, including Germany and Greece, the bride attempts to cover her new husband’s foot while dancing in order to establish dominance.

In Egypt, women will pinch the bride to bring good luck to those who pinched her.

In Afghanistan, a man who wanted to marry a woman would cut off a lock of her hair or throw a sheet over her and proclaim her his bride.

In many cultures, the groom historically often kidnapped the bride, and the groom’s friends would help him, leading to the modern-day groomsmen. At the alter, the groom always stood on the bride’s right side so his right hand—or his sword hand—would be free to fight/defend a jealous rival.

The Penan nomads who live on the island Borneo (southwest of the Philippines) maintain that women do not have a soul until their wedding day.

Because white is the color of mourning in Eastern cultures, white wedding dresses are uncommon.

The custom of tiered cakes emerged from a game where the bride and groom attempted to kiss over an ever-higher cake without knocking it over.

In Denmark, brides and grooms traditionally cross-dressed to confuse evil spirits.
Most expensive wedding ever? The marriage of Sheik Rashid Bin Saeed Al Maktoum's son to Princess Salama in Dubai in May 1981. The price tag? $44 million.

In Mauritania, girls aged between five and 15 are sent to "fat farms" before their wedding to pile on the pounds. If a bride had stomach rolls, stretch marks and overlapping thighs, it signalled her husband was wealthy enough to keep her satisfied.  Wow!!

I'm feeling better already. I won't have to shave my eyebrows, get kidnapped, pinched or cross-dress.

Oil Pulling?

I don't know why it's called "pulling" and not swishing.  This was another thing on Pinterest that kept grabbing my attention.
Basically, you stick a tablespoon of organic coconut oil in your mouth and swish it around for 20 minutes then spit.  You can use other oils such as sesame or sunflower oil but I love coconut oil and now "they" are saying it may help to prevent cavities.
I tried this last year for about a week or so and it gave me a cough.  I don't know if it was detoxing my lungs or I just had some sinus issues.  I did notice my teeth were a little whiter, nothing drastic in the short time that I did it.  One Crest White Strip probably would have done the same thing.

Oil pulling makes some outrageous claims, here are a few...
  • Overall Better Oral Health (ok, not so outrageous)
  • Clears up Acne
  • Whitens Teeth
  • Decreases Anxiety
  • Healthier Hair
  • Eases Arthritis
  • Good for Your Liver
  • TMJ Treatment
  • Reduces Plaque

Plaque, looks a lot like my Play-Doh barber shop I had when I was a child.

I wont be pulling any oil until I figure out what's going on with the castor oil and coconut oil on my head and lashes.  I already have a lengthy morning routine of waking up, washing all the oil off of me and getting dressed for work, to add another thing right now would be silly.

Also, don't spit your coconut oil in the sink or toilet, it will harden and clog your pipes, so "they" say. If you want more info on oil pulling, go to Pinterest or just Google it.  I gave you the important details, you're welcome.

I would love to know if you are going to try it!

Eyelash Envy!

If I don't lose a few pounds and tighten my arm flab before my wedding (date unknown), my plan is to distract everyone with my crazy long eyelashes.

It's cute Right??

I've been seeing pins on how to get super long eyelashes for over a year now on Pinterest.  As I've stated before, some (a lot) of that stuff is just crap, total lies!!
I bought a bunch of castor oil to smear all over my stomach to promote regular bowel movements.  I haven't been able to test the validity of this pin because I just can't bring myself to smear that slimy, stinky oil all over my gut and sit with it for 30 minutes.
I had to find other uses for castor oil and kept seeing it (combined with coconut oil) promising to make your eyelashes grow.  Apparently, it takes a couple of months so I wasn't really excited to try it.  I want instant long eyelashes, now.
I ran across a blog from a real person complete with pictures so I'm deciding to give it a try.  I am marking Feb 27th, 2016 as my start date.
I used a 1:1 ratio of castor oil and organic coconut oil.  I put it into a container and use an eye shadow sponge brush to apply it to the base of my top lashes before I go to bed.

I also starting thinking that if it makes your eye hair grow, why not head hair?  I did use the mixture on my scalp and will probably keep doing it.  I'll be upset if it really works on my eyelashes and I didn't continue it on my scalp as well.
Please be warned you will look like you haven't washed your hair in a long time.  If your significant other is turned on by the vagabond look, you are in luck!!

Here's the link that inspired me to brush goo in my eyes. Long Eyelashes

I think I'll post a pic once per week to see when there is an actual change.

Here are my stubby little eyelashes...

Here's what you need to give this a try...

Who's doing this with me??

Healthy Eating, Exercise & Pinterest

I'm struggling to find a theme for this blog.  I have a bunch of useless stuff to say and I need a place to document it. There are a couple of things that I want to document.

First, I need a way to track my success as I start to eat healthier and exercise.  Diet is the first word that came to my mind, but supposedly, even the use of that word already has you at a disadvantage.    My cousin and I have a secret Facebook group that started out (for me) as a way to document the foods we were eating. To be held accountable to someone else.  I, for sure, thought food shaming each other would be the answer.  It wasn't, I basically wanted to one up her, if she posted a plate full of fried food, I wanted to post a plate full of fried food and ice cream.  I'm not sure if I'm going to follow someone else's program (21 Day Fix, Low Carb, Dr. Oz, Kimberly Snyder) or just use common sense.  Either way, I have a wedding dress to fit into and I need to slim down and tighten all the jiggles on my body.

I don't have any solutions to starting an exercise program other than I am NOT running.  I hate running, even if someone was chasing me, I wouldn't run.  I don't even like to walk too fast.
I did buy a book called Buff Bride a couple of months ago.  Apparently, just owning the book doesn't make you buff.  What a rip off.

Second, I've been trying some of the DIY pins on Pinterest and I needed to document and track some of these things.  There are quite a few things I have made where some of the claims of the pinners are just flat out lies.  I've also tried lots of DIY cleaning products that don't work either.

I think the first thing I need to focus on is motivation.  What will motivate me to want to jump around until I sweat, then eat a salad with no dressing?
What would motivate you? If you are already motivated, how do you stay that way?
